Book Tour: Sophia's Secret - Julie Ryan

Kat has never understood why she was sent at the age of seven from Greece to live in England with her Aunt Tigi. When she receives an email from her grandmother, the first contact in over twenty years, informing her of her mother’s death, she knows this could be her last chance to find out the truth. Little by little she finds out the shocking facts as her grandmother opens her heart. It seems everyone has a secret to tell, not only her grandmother, as Manoli, her school friend, also harbours a guilty secret. Then there’s a twenty year old mystery to solve as well as a murder and what happened to the missing Church treasure?

My opinion.
Sophia's Secret is thé perfect summer read. Julie Ryan transports you to sunny Greece and takes you on a wonderful journey through different generations.
I absolutely loved finding out more about the islanders' history and how all these different families are linked. Julie introduces us to a lot of different characters, but without it being overwhelming. Sophia's tale of the past isn't interrupted by events of the present, which makes it easy to get absorbed into her story completely. At the very end of the book there were some new 'twists' which weren't really necessary to me (& some events that 'happened' over the years seem a tiny bit far fetched at times), but didn't take away from the main story either.
I'm not a big fan of the cover... I like the picture, but I think it's the font that makes it look a bit amateurish? Sorry!
I really feel as though I know these characters and finding out Kat's family history in Sophia's Secret has been amazing. I absolutely loved reading Sophia's Secret and I would highly (!!) recommend this wonderful summer read!
